ARMENIA  - 11 DAYS

 

 DAY 1   Arrival - Arrival at Zvartnoc International Airport and transfer to the hotel.

 DAY 2   City tour  / Yerevan/– Ejmiatsin – Zvartnoc – Yerevan  (B/-/-) Start off with a visit the Manuscript Museum of Armenia, where all ancient Armenian Manuscripts are kept. Visit also the Genocide museum  and continue UNESCO World Heritage site - The Cathedral of Ejmiatsin, founded in 303, and 7th Century Zvartnots Temple. Return to Yerevan and overnight at the hotel.

 DAY 3   Yerevan – Lori berd – Odzun - Haghpat – Yenokavan (B/-/-) Departure to Yenokavan with stops at Lori fortress, Haghpat monastery (UNESCO World Heritage) and Odzun monastery along the way.

 DAY 4   Yenokavan – Riding route (B/-/-) Today’s route is ''the sense of antiquity'' and is done on horseback (suitable for complete beginners). Starting off in the woods, the trail passes through forests and open spaces up to the Parvidzor gorge (height 1305m), crossing the river and continuing up to the chapel at 1321m. The last point is Ocon (1405m) - total journey is around 9km. Overnight at Yenokavan.

 DAY 5   Dilijan – Parz lich (trekking 3 hours) – Goshavank – Dilijan (B/-/-) Drive to Dilijan to visit the ancient street of Sharambeyan with crafts shops and museums. Continue to lake Parz for light trekking through the magnificent forests up to the monastery of Goshavank. Overnight in Dilijan.

 DAY 6   Dilijan – Sevan - Noraduz – Selim – Hermon (B/-/-)  Departure to Lake Sevan, one of the greatest lakes of the world with visits to two 10th century monastries, and Noraduz, the biggist cross-stones cemetry in the world. Trek to the fortress of Smbataberd and overnight at Hermon village.

 DAY 7   Hermon – Karahunj – Ukhtasar – Goris (B/-/-) Departure to Jermuk where there are many natural water springs of 0-53°C as well as a beautiful cascade. Visit also Karahunj an ancient astrological observatory - 3,500 years older than Stonehenge – continue to Sisian, for a 4x4 ride up the Ukhtasar mountain to see the petroglyphs. Overnight in Goris.

 DAY 8   Goris – Khndzoresk - Tatev –Goris (B/-/-)  Visit to the village Khndzoresk, an ancient cave town inhabited till 19th century and continue to Tatev for one of the longest cable car rides in the world will take you to the most beautiful monastery in Armenia. The complex of Tatev consists of three churches, a refectory and a library. Trekking to the '' Devil’s bridge'', where there are beautiful small natural warm pools located in the gorge. Overnight in Goris.

 DAY 9 ​​​​​​​  Goris - Noravank – Areni village – Khor Virap – Yerevan (B/-/-) Departure to Vayots Dzor region to visit Novarank located on the edge of a rock. Continue to Ararat to visit the Monastery of Khor Virap - the nearest point to biblical Mount Ararat. Overnight in Yerevan.

 DAY 10 ​​​​​​​  Yerevan – Garni – Symphony of Stones - Geghard – Yerevan (B/-/-) Visit Garni, a Pagan Temple built in the 1st century AD. In 1679 it was destroyed by earthquake and resorted in 1975. 4x4 drive to the Garni gorge to see one of the wonders of nature that is called “Symphony of Stones”. Continue to Geghard Monastery. Its name came from the legendary lance that was used to pierce the body of Christ. Stop at a local house to see and participate in the preparation of Armenian national bread: lavash. It is very thin, and is usually sold in very large forms. Here you will enjoy the “Armenian fast food” with lavash and cheese. Drive back to Yerevan and overnight there.

 DAY 11 ​​​​​​​  Departure Time at leisure until time for transfer to the airport.
